It’s Summer and the Sun is all ablaze to raise the mercury level high! To cope with the scorching heat and humidity that deplete all the energy, it becomes essential to take necessary precautions while setting out for your summer workout; so that you can stay fit and healthy without wreaking any havoc to your body.

The below Summer tips will help you stay cool and maintain a healthy balance during your workout hours.

Stay Hydrated

First thing first! During workouts in Summer, it is very important to keep your body hydrated. The proper amount and distribution of electrolytes in the body is key to healthy balance. So, to maintain electrolytes and salt in the body, add some amount of lemon or orange juice, sugar free sweetener or sugar and a pinch of salt in regular water. Take a sip at regular intervals during workout to avoid over exhaustion, muscle cramps and nausea.

Choose clothes wisely

When it comes to workout clothing, pick the right colour, fit and material that will make workout easier during excessive heat and humidity. Light-coloured clothes reflect heat, loose clothes relax your body and let it breathe. In Summer, cotton is the best available material one can choose to avoid excessive sweating. You can also opt for the garments that are particularly designed for sports and workouts.

Choose the right time of the day

Summer mornings are usually less heated and soothing as the temperature doesn’t rise massively. Hence, this is the best time you can pick for your workout. You can avoid scorching heat by starting your day a little early. Or if you are not an early riser, schedule your workout during late evening, after the sun sets.

Don’t forget Sunscreen

If you are exercising in the Sun, never-ever go out without applying Sunscreen on your bare skin.  Your workout may fetch you a great physique or a well toned perfect figure but it might leave the ugly tans on your face and body. You can opt for a waterproof sunscreen available in the market to avoid a sweat washed face and body, sans sunscreen!

Avoid long hour workouts

Long hour workouts can get strenuous and exhausting. Therefore, to create a balance between your day-to-day life and exercising without getting weary, split up your exercise into two i.e. one slot in the morning and one in the evening, to avoid long and tiring workout schedule. This way, you can achieve the same results without draining strength and energy out of your body. If you wish, you can also avoid extreme workouts and stick to only regular cardio exercises (such as jogging, walking, cycling or swimming) or yoga.

Ditch tea/coffee before workout

It’s better to avoid any caffeinated drinks before workout as these act as catalysts to dehydration and make your body sweat more. Instead, drink water before starting your workout to keep your body cool and hydrated.

Now that you know how to safeguard yourself from the scorching heat in the Summer, gear up to make your workout fun and less-tiring. Remember to give your body proper rest after each workout and allow your body to regain the stamina.
