It’s that time of the year again! Holi, the ‘Festival of Colours’, is here to welcome the Spring – the season of hope and fresh beginnings. Food and festivity immediately comes to mind when we think ‘Holi’ and while most of us relish that kind of celebration, there are the fitness conscious ones who are worried, and rightly so, about the strain that the festivity is going to put on their diet watch and health concerns. Are you one of the latter? Are you worried that you might over indulge in the hype of the celebrations?

Here are a few tips as to how you can enjoy all the festivities of Holi in a health – conscious and guilt –free manner:-

Bring out the kid in you

Whoever you may be – boy, girl, young and old – participate in games that need a lot of movement. Why? Because gaming activities means fun and fitness. Rid off the stress and go back to your childhood.

A different workout

Just because you cannot get round to your morning runs does not you’ll miss your daily workout; running around and ‘attacking’ your nearest opponent while simultaneously dodging an ‘attack’ from someone else requires incredible movement and flexibility. So get your colour ammunition ready!

Plan your meals

On festive occasions such as Holi, heavy meals are usually had at the end of the day and I’m sure you don’t want to miss out on all the goodies. So it’s a good idea to balance this excess by eating less during the day and preferably having food that is low on fat and carbohydrates, but packed with fibre. If hunger pangs start to kick in, avoid binge eating on junk snacks but rather on fruits and salads. Avoid spicy food and drink plenty of water!

Retreat

After all the fun and food is said and done, relax and unwind. Do Yoga. Meditate. Jog. Whatever it is that will help you reflect on the festive experience, recall the good times and help you move on with your normal schedule with much gusto, do it.

Holi is a holiday!

Everyone needs a break. Try re –scheduling your work in such a way that you use this time to rest and relax. Don’t forget to make the most of the holiday so you can resume work with a fresh mind and renewed vigour.

If you were worried about over indulgence in fun and food during the Holi celebrations prior to reading this article, I hope your worries are now laid to rest. Remember, this is the season of hope and fresh starts; so let your hair down, get involved in the fun and frolic, treat yourself to good food, relax and have the time of your life. Wishing you a joyous and colourful weekend! Happy Holi!

  1. It’s an extremely pleasant sight when everyone walks around as if they came out of a psychedelic indie game. By the way, I planned to release my indie project in this design. I think it makes sense if people like it. Can I contact games animation inc to help me with the development of the game? We’ll see.
