Walking Calorie Burn Calculator

Walking is perhaps the simplest way of burning calories and losing extra pounds off your body. But how much calories are you burning? Are you doing it right? When it comes to walking to achieve weight loss, speed is not the most essential factor. Your weight and the distance you cover during your exercise are the significant factors that determine the energy calories burned. For instance, a 180 pound person walking a mile will burn 100 calories while a 120 pound walking the same distance will burn 65 calories. If you can achieve a speed of walking a mile in 13 minutes or less, you will be able to lose more calories per mile. Beginners, however, are advised to increase the distance before working on the speed. Gradually increase the distance you walk every day, with a goal to walk for 30 - 60 minutes each time. Walking 5 - 6 times per week is recommended.

At Gympik.com, we provide you this Walking Calorie Burn Calculator which takes into consideration the grade of the walking surface that you are on, that is, whether you are walking on an inclined surface or on the decline; your weight, total walking distance and walking time. The grade of the walking surface is taken into consideration because more calories are burned as the incline of the walking surface increases, and lesser calories are burned as the decline of the walking surface increases.
